 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS IN SOUTH KOREA (As of 15 July 2023)

 

General Information

- From 1 June 2023, indoor mask-wearing in clinics and pharmacies has changed to a recommendation.

But high-level medical facilities with crowded patients and high-risk facilities for infection remain to enforce mask-wearing

as mandatory.

- As COVID-19 is classified as a grade-4 infectious disease in South Korea, all regulations, such as PCR and Vaccine Certificates,

have been removed.

(Quarantine for people who test positive for COVID-19 has been changed from 7 days mandatory to 5 days recommendation)

 

Quarantine Regulation

Crew & Passengers

- All crew and passengers from the quarantine inspection area (73, including transit) within the monitoring period are required to

 input Q-Code or fill out Health Declaration Form.

 

- Monitoring periods may differ depending on the areas and disease.

In the case of quarantine inspection areas for 2 or more diseases, the longer monitoring period should be followed.

1. South Korea recommends that the crew and passengers from the quarantine inspection-required area register "Q-Code”.

Q-Code is a system to shorten the time for entry to South Korea.

Crew and Passengers with Q-Code can get fast and convenient quarantine inspections upon arrival.

They can register and get the Q-Code below website.

2. Registering the Q-Code is not mandatory. If they have the Q-Code, UBjet can prepare the Health Declaration Form.

 

Entry Regulations

Crew

- Crew on General Declarations can stay up to 30 days without visas.

 

Passenger: K-ETA

1. K-ETA is a travel authorisation that foreign nationals eligible to travel to South Korea for VISA-FREE COUNTRIES need to

obtain by providing personal and travel-related information through the K-ETA website in advance. Passengers should

apply the K-ETA on the website 72 hours before departure. (Website: www.k-eta.go.kr)

 

2. Validity:

   - Applied before 03 July 2023: 2 years

   - Applied after 03 July 2023 00:00(KST): 3 years

 

3. Passengers who are not from Visa-Free Countries do not need to get K-ETA.

Visa-required passengers must get a valid visa before departing from the origin.

   No visa can apply for upon arrival.

 

4. Exceptions:

- Only UN passport holders, ABTC holders, USFK service members, transfer passengers, and Jeju Island

travellers using a direct flight to Jeju Island (RKPC, CJU) are not required to apply for K-ETA.

- Diplomatic or official passport holders, from 9th January 2023, are not required to apply for K-ETA.

 

 

5. Exemptions (as of 03 July 2023)

- Ages 17 years old and under & 66 years old and above are exempted from the K-ETA requirement.

- Passengers may apply for K-ETA to receive benefits from K-ETA (e.g., not having to submit an arrival card).

  In this case, the application fee will be charged.

K-ETA approval received before July 3, 2023, will remain valid until its expiration date.

 

*Temporary Exemption of K-ETA [as of April 1, 2023, Updated on 01 July 2023]

K-ETA will be temporarily exempted to 27 countries/regions listed below starting from April 1, 2023, to

December 31, 2024, as part of a plan to support the revitalisation of the tourism industry in relation to

commemorating Visit Korea Year (2023~2024)

Please note that if passengers are eligible for K-ETA temporary exemption but want to apply for K-ETA to receive benefits,

such as not having to submit an arrival card upon entry, he/she may apply for K-ETA from the website.

Previously approved K-ETA will remain valid until its expiry date.
